We here at Guaranteed Auto Air & Repair have one goal in mind and that is to make you a lifelong customer. We are your one-stop auto service shop in Rockledge, Florida. We can maintain and repair your vehicle no matter what goes wrong. This includes replacing leaking vacuum hoses in the engine that are causing the following problems.

Malfunctioning Engine Components

The reason why the vacuum pressure created in the combustion chamber is routed through hoses in the engine is that it is used to provide power for engine components. For example, if you have a vacuum leak and your power steering starts to act up, it’s possible that the vacuum hose leading to the power steering pump is leaking. Consequently, the pump is malfunctioning.

High and/or Erratic Engine RPMs

Any time there is vacuum pressure leaking out of a vacuum hose, you will notice that your engine’s RPMs are not acting as they normally do. The RPMs may be consistently high if a vacuum hose is leaking steady vacuum pressure out of it. The RPMs may bounce up and down if the hose is leaking the vacuum pressure in spurts. Your tachometer needle will reflect the vacuum leak by registering the RPMs.

Hissing Noises or Suction Sounds

Your engine’s vacuum leak may also make hissing or suction noises in the engine. For example, if the vacuum leak is a minor one, the hose may squeak, squeal, or hiss. If the vacuum leak is a major one, the hose will make a suction noise that sounds a lot like the hose on a shop vac.

Engine Performance Problems

Unfortunately, any time you have a vacuum leak in the engine, your engine will struggle to perform. This is because the engine is filling with air. As the air makes its way into the combustion chamber, it dilutes the fuel and creates a lean fuel mixture. Your engine will lag and sputter.

Noticeable Loss of Fuel Economy

This will reduce your vehicle’s fuel economy. Any time an engine struggles to run, it actually uses more fuel than less fuel. Consequently, you will need to fill the tank more often until you get the vacuum leaks fixed. Again, we can replace the leaking hose at our shop.

Finally, Guaranteed Auto Air & Repair in Rockledge, FL, advises that the check engine light may turn on because the vacuum leak is affecting system sensors. Give us a call today if your vehicle is experiencing any of the symptoms discussed above.
