If your car, truck, or utility vehicle overheats every time you drive it, there is something seriously wrong with the cooling system. One problem could be that you have low coolant levels in the system, and, as such, you don’t have enough coolant circulating through the engine. Guaranteed Auto Air & Repair can inspect your cooling system to find the problem. Once we know what that problem is, we will fix it.

Clogged Cooling System

One possible issue could be that your cooling system is clogged. This can happen if the hoses are clogged with dirt and sediment or the radiator or heater core is clogged with corrosion. Unfortunately, if the cooling system is clogged, you do not have coolant circulating through your engine.

Leaking Cooling System

If your cooling system is leaking, the coolant levels will be too low. Your engine needs the right amount of coolant to keep the temperature below 220 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the average maximum temperature at which an engine should run. Coolant can leak out of the hoses, seals and gaskets, water pump, and an old and corroded radiator among other cooling system parts.

Radiator Problems

Speaking of the radiator, radiator problems can also cause your engine to overheat every time you drive your automobile. As we mentioned above, the radiator can get clogged with corrosion. Once this corrosion eats through the bottom of the radiator, it will begin to leak.

Dead Cooling Fan

The radiator uses a cooling fan to help reduce the coolant temperature once it has circulated through the engine. Aside from the cooling fan, the radiator has air inlets that bring in fresh air, as well. If the cooling fan is malfunctioning or the inlets are blocked, your engine will have hot coolant circulating through it.

Faulty Thermostat

The cooling system part that releases the coolant into the engine is the thermostat. It uses a valve that opens to let the coolant flow into the water pump. If the thermostat is malfunctioning, it may misread the engine’s temperature or refuse to release coolant into the engine.

Faulty Water Pump

The water pump circulates the coolant through the engine. It lasts, on average, about 100,000 miles. If the water pump is malfunctioning, you may have poor or no coolant circulation. This will cause your engine to overheat every time you drive your automobile.
