We hate to say it, but if there are metal shavings in your motor oil, your engine is a goner. Unfortunately, the metal that is in the oil is disintegrating engine parts. There is no solution to this problem other than to replace the engine. We can do that at our auto service shop. We recommend that you avoid driving the vehicle to prevent further disintegration and engine damage caused by the metal shavings. Rather, have your vehicle towed to our shop.

Excess Exhaust

In addition to metal shavings in the motor oil, your engine may also need to be replaced if it is producing excess exhaust. If your tailpipe is turned into a smokestack, you have hemorrhaging fluid in the engine. Unfortunately, the most common fluids that cause excess exhaust are coolant, fuel, and motor oil. It is crucial to find the source of the leak to determine the steps that need to be taken to resolve the problem. In severe cases, this may require a partial engine rebuild.

Knocking

Another thing that may require a partial engine rebuild is constant knocking coming from the engine. In this case, this indicates that there is a problem in the cylinder block that could damage the cylinder block. Consequently, if the cylinder block gets damaged, it will need to be replaced. We won’t lie. This is an extensive repair because of where the cylinder block is located.

Overheating

If the cylinder block has cracked, your engine may overheat all the time. If the head gasket has cracked, the engine will overheat all the time. The engine will also overheat if the exhaust manifold is cracked. All of these things can be repaired. We can also replace your cooling system if this is the reason why your automobile has started to overheat every time that you drive it.

Power Loss

Finally, an old engine will break down and there will be no repair for the problem. This means it’s time to retire the engine and install a new one in your automobile. The most common sign that the engine is beyond repair is significant power loss that cannot be restored. In this case, in order to restore power to your automobile, the engine must be replaced.

We can do that at our shop, so call us today to schedule a service appointment. We would be happy to inspect your engine to see if it needs any repairs.
